What training programs are offered at TAFE NSW?

General Environmental Awareness Training

This program will teach your employees the fundamentals of an Environmental Management System (EMS). They will learn what it is and how it works. This training can form part of your employee induction program in environmental sustainability.

The ISO14001 International Standard requires all employees to be trained for general awareness, even if they do not have any direct responsibilities under the EMS Program.

Suitable for: All Employees

Duration: 4 hours

Environmental Management System (EMS) Implementation ISO 14001

This program is designed for environmental officers or managers that will be directly involved in the implementation and monitoring of the company's EMS. It is carried out on a mentoring basis.

Most of the documentation required by the Standard will be created during the mentoring process and can be used if full accreditation to ISO14001 is required in future.

This training also gives you the opportunity to gain an optional Statement of Attainment for two units, namely 'Implement and monitor environmentally sustainable work practices' and 'Develop workplace policy and procedures for sustainability', depending on the level of involvement.

Suitable for: WH&S, Environmental Officers or Managers

Duration: 5 days plus 2 days follow up

BIM – Revit Modelling Course

Stage 1:            Introduction to Revit & 3D Modelling

Building Information Modeling (BIM) is a digital representation of physical and functional characteristics of a facility. A Building Information Model forms the basis for sustainability analysis of a design, incorporating energy and thermal performance simulation prior to construction.

It is especially valuable for energy efficiency retrofitting projects where the Building Information Model can accurately predict sustainability performance and allow fine tuning of a design to maximise sustainability outcomes.

What you will learn in these courses:

  • Stage 1: modelling simple single storey residential building from conception to printed drawings
  • Stage 2: advanced building modelling including scheduling of components and production of detail drawings
  • Stage 3: analysis of complex buildings to determine energy efficiency and options for improving a building’s sustainability

Suitable for: Architects, Architectural Draftspersons, Interior Designers, Surveyors, Civil, Structural and Building Services Engineers, Quantity Surveyors, Building Managers and Builders.
