TAFE Illawarra’s Community Services students will host an event to celebrate and share the importance of our history, our story and our future around Reconciliation on Thursday 2 June.
The event is being held at our Wollongong campus as part of National Reconciliation Week.
TAFE Illawarra Community Services teacher, Belinda Hawker, says: “The event is about bringing together Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders and non-aboriginal communities. It also creates a local connection with a nation-wide initiative around Reconciliation.
“Students studying the Diploma in Community Services are planning and running the event as part of their learning experience,” says Belinda.
“It’s a great way to enable them to build connections with the broader community and Aboriginal Services – and put their learning into practice.
“Students, staff and members of the community will have the chance to enjoy a range of activities, entertainment and listen to the important words of guest speakers on the significance of the Reconciliation journey.”
TAFE Illawarra students and staff are invited to be part of the celebration:
- Date: Thursday 2 June
- Time: 11am – 1:30pm
- Location: TAFE Illawarra Wollongong, outside Block B. Wet weather alternative event will be held in the Canteen
