Taylah Jones, Albion Park local, dreamed of being a hairdresser from a young age. Now, thanks to her dedication to her studies – her dreams have come true.

Having completed a Certificate III in Hairdressing at TAFE Illawarra Wollongong West whilst working for QUE Colour Salon in Sydney, Taylah’s skills and talent have always been a cut above the rest.

She won the 2015 Regional WorldSkills hairdressing competition and has recently been named TAFE Illawarra’s Hair and Beauty Student of the Year.

“Hairdressing is a field that provides opportunities for creativity,” says Taylah.

“I had always wanted to be a hairdresser, even at a young age. And saw it as a great career that would allow me to be artistic and creative every day.”

Taylah’s love for the field is clear, as she is always the first to volunteer for industry opportunities. She’s directed photo-shoots, created blogs and assists with training younger apprentices. Taylah is always building on her knowledge by researching courses, classes and trends worldwide.

“The constant support throughout my Certificate III in Hairdressing from both teachers and fellow peers has assisted me achieve my many awards.

“The teachers are always on trend and up to date with current styles, training techniques and industry methods.

“What I love most about hairdressing is that every day is different. I meet new people with fresh challenges.
