A young local Goulburn student has aced her HSC results through an adult learning environment with an outstanding equivalent 99.95 ATAR.
Courtney Macpherson, aged 22 has a bright future ahead after successfully completing the Tertiary Preparation Course (TPC) at TAFE Illawarra Goulburn last year.
Accepting an offer to further her study with a Double Degree in Honours Law and Medical Science at the Australian National University, Courtney is over-joyed with her result.
Courtney attributes a great deal of her success to the guidance and assistance provided by the teaching staff, specifically Kerrie McQuaid and Leon Williamson.
“The adult learning environment at TAFE was so much better and the teachers provided a friendly atmosphere every day,” she said.
“I’m inspired to study medicine because I have personally witnessed the amazing amount of help from the medical profession that can dramatically change lives.”
Students studying through an adult learning environment such as TAFE Illawarra receive a raw equivalent ATAR by the Universities Admission Centre after an overall mark has been determined for the subjects covered through the TPC.
The Certificate IV in Tertiary Preparation is a Year 12 equivalent qualification with an emphasis on skill-based learning as well as discipline-specific content.
Courtney was also a recipient of the 2015 Veolia Mulwaree Scholarship which provides students with financial support to continue their studies.
