To help you decide whether a training or education provider is right for you, we've put together a fact sheet that explains the important things to look for when choosing a training or education provider, and a recognised training or education course.
How to enrol
You’ll need a Unique Student Identifier (USI) before applying or enrolling in any nationally recognised course. If you don’t already have one, you can simply create your own USI through the Australian Government Department of Industry website.
If you'd like some advice on the best course to achieve your career goals and want to find out how we can support your learning, chat to our Careers and Counselling team and check out our Learner Support for Students services.
So, you've found the course you want to study - what next?
Check a couple of details
Do you meet the entry requirements?
Many TAFE NSW courses have specific entry requirements such as photo identification, qualifications, skills, knowledge or experience. Check the specific requirements which are listed in the course description. If you're not sure on anything, give our Customer Service team a call on 131 601.
Do you need to do anything other than register your interest, apply/or enrol?
You may need to attend an interview or audition, submit a portfolio or attend a testing session. To find out more, read through the course description or call us on 131 601.
Simply follow the process outlined as you progress through the course description via the ‘Find a Course’ tool.
If you have gained skills and knowledge through previous studies, work or life experiences, you may be eligible for Recognition which can help you finish your course faster and at a lower cost.
If you require assistance to enrol online call 131 601 or visit your nearest TAFE NSW location between 8.30am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.
Alternatively, you can send us an online enquiry.
Changes to courses
TAFE NSW reserves the right to:
- run or withdraw any course
- hold a course at a location other than that advertised
- alter the times or dates for the whole or any part of the course.
If this does happen, you will be advised of the changes and the alternative arrangements which may be available for you to complete your course.
